Your SB Holiday Guide

Hey, friends and fellow lovers of Santa Barbara. This month, we’re highlighting the very best family-friendly holiday activities in SB 🎊 showing you how to find pocket listings 🔍 and giving you a glimpse of our brand new listings 🏠

What To Do During The Holidays in Santa Barbara🎊
Being a tropical coastal city without even a dusting of snow, Santa Barbara pulls off a magical holiday atmosphere, in part due to the worthy lineup of immersive activities. Get ready to mark your calendars and slip on your mittens, it’s time to for the holidays on the American Riviera.

Parade of Lights 🎄Santa Barbara Harbor | December 11th, 11:00am – 9:00pm
This year is the 36th annual Parade of Lights, a day-long celebration with no shortage of elves, holiday music, snow, and even whispers of a Santa appearance. Stand-up paddleboarders and kayakers will loop Stearn’s Wharf and a holiday tree lighting will take place next to the Sea Center. This elaborate celebration ends with around 30 illuminated watercrafts floating down the coast and fireworks over the water. Feeling festive yet?

SB ZooLights 🦁 Santa Barbara Zoo | November 3rd – January 15th, 4:30pm – 8:30pm
At Santa Barbara ZooLights, you and your family can walk through animal and nature scenes from globally-inspired places and marvel at a captivating visual display of thousands of silk-covered lanterns lit up with over 50,000 LED bulbs. This year, African plains, the Outback, butterflies, interactive setups, and other marvelous spectacles are all in the mix at ZooLights.

La Arcada Plaza Christmas Walk 🎅La Arcada Plaza | November 30th, 5:00pm – 8:00pm
One of SB’s most charming downtown hangouts any time of year, La Arcada Plaza transforms into a dazzling holiday must-see with its annual La Arcada Plaza Christmas Walk. Photos of Santa is a big draw along with holiday music and carolers, fresh-popped popcorn and other goodies, and a possible flurry of snow this year. Even if you miss the Christmas Walk, we still recommend walking through the plaza at your leisure in December to take in the details and decorations.

Trolley of Lights Tour ⭐️ SB Trolley Check-in Center | December 8th – 21st, 90-minute tours
Santa Barbara Trolley Company operates SB’s original and longest-running fleet of trolleys that shuttle large groups across SB’s downtown to witness all the sights our city has to their offer. The holiday-themed Trolley of Lights Tour whisks you through the most festive neighborhoods in SB on a 90-minute-long tour that runs for only 14 days in December. We’re sad to say that tickets are currently sold out. You can either bake your neighbor something sweet and beg them to give you their tickets or take Joe’s local advice and load up the family car and respectfully follow along behind a trolley through the route of decorated neighborhoods. Shh, you didn’t hear it from us!

Milpas Holiday Parade 🎉 Milpas Street | December 10th, 5:30pm – 7:30pm
One of our favorite lesser-known but equally fun-packed holiday activities is the Milpas Holiday Parade. Gather with your family and enjoy the passing parade of colorful floats, bands, and holiday displays. This year’s theme is “Surfin’ Santa,” which is bound to draw some inventive creations.

A Walk Down State 🧣 State Street | Anytime
We suggest layering, heating up a piping cup of hot cocoa, and taking a slow jaunt down State Street. You’ll be surprised at all the holiday sights to stumble across like the gigantic Christmas tree in Paseo Nuevo and the colorful lights strung across different storefronts. If you see us down there, wave a mitten and hold up your hot cocoa!

Lane Farms Christmas Patch 🌽 Lane Farms | November 25th – December 20th, 10:00am – 8:00pm daily
Escape the busy city and get a dose of fresh air and holiday cheer at Lane Farms Christmas Patch where farm animals, tractors and farm equipment, and a corn maze will keep you and the family thoroughly entertained for a whole evening.

We truly hope you and your family enjoy those activities as much as we do!
