Where is The Upper East Side Neighborhood?
Thankfully, the City of Santa Barbara has outlined the boundaries of the Upper East Side. It is bordered on the north by Mission Creek and Las Encinas Road, proceeding across the old Mission bridge on Los Olivos Street through the Mission Park grounds to connect with Emerson Street, which borders Roosevelt Elementary School, and Prospect Avenue, abutting the Riviera, including Olive Avenue, Olive Street and Laguna on the east to Sola Street on the south and State Street on the west.
It includes Alice Keck Park Memorial Garden and Alameda Park, which serve both the Upper East and downtown residential areas.
Upper East Side Neighborhood Attractions

The hallmark of the Upper East Side area has to be the Santa Barbara Mission. Founded in 1786, the Santa Barbara Mission is one of the most beautiful and intact of the 21 missions found in California. Since the Mission dates back to the early days before Santa Barbara was incorporated (1850), it set the tone for much to follow.
The Upper East Side is well known for its Spanish-influenced architecture. Sandstone walls are found throughout the area as are many stunning homes.
Wide streets, gracious lots, and estate-like homes are bountiful in the area and nearly all are in amazing condition. Many homes are in the traditional Spanish style, while many streets are dotted with Mid-Century homes and other historical styles such as Tudor and Cottage.
In addition to the Mission, the Santa Barbara Woman’s Club, Botanical Gardens and Historical Museum call the area home. These wonderful attractions, parks, rose gardens, and hiking opportunities, make living on the Upper East Side quite sweet.
